Instruction for the young gymnast utilizing gymnastics equipment to teach age appropriate skills, games, conditioning exercises, and obstacle courses are incorporated to develop flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength. Age appropriate gymnastics skill instruction on all apparatuses including vault, bars, beam, and floor. Games, conditioning exercises, dance elements, and obstacle courses are utilized to continue development of flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength.

Age appropriate gymnastics skill instruction on all apparatuses including vault, bars, beam, and floor. Games, conditioning exercises, dance elements, and obstacle courses are utilized to continue development of flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength.

Our class is designed to teach age-appropriate skill instruction on each gymnastic apparatus including vault, bars, beam, and floor. Activities such as rope climb, jump rope, tumble track, trampoline, and foam pit aid in the development of flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength. Each class is 50 minutes and meets one time per week.
Skills in this class will build on the skills learned in Rec. 1. They will continue to work on perfective the basics learned in Rec. 1 and work on more advanced skills preparing them for Advanced Gym.
Floor: Front Limber, Front Walkover, Back Walkover, Back Limber, Round Off Rebound (Prep for Back Handspring), Back Handspring Drills.
Beam: Perfect walks learned in Rec. 1, Tappers (Prep for Handstand), Introduce to Jumps and Leaps, Round Off Dismount.
Vault: Build on running, Straight Arm Forward Roll Vault working on driving heels to a handstand.
Bars: Chin Up Pullover, Cast Back Hip Circle, Squat on Dismount. Conditioning: 10 Push Ups, 25 Sit Ups, Climb Rec. Rope to the top.
Flexibility: Square Split, good side, Straight Arm Bridge, shoulders past hands.
