Advanced Gymnastics enables gymnasts who have basic skills on each apparatus not only the ability to advance their skills, but also the opportunity to learn new ones. Gymnasts are able to increase their strength and flexibility as they progress. Gymnasts may enroll in one class per week or receive additional training in multiple classes. Advanced Gymnastics is recommended for those who wish to learn more gymnastic skills, but do not wish to compete as a member of Southeastern teams.
Instruction for the young gymnast utilizing gymnastics equipment to teach skills. Games, conditioning exercises, and obstacle courses are incorporated to develop flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength. Gymnastic instruction on all apparatuses including vault, bars, beam, and floor.
Gymnastics class for boys teaching age appropriate skills on boys gymnastics equipment including vault, still rings, and floor. Additional training aids such as rope climb, back arch mat, mushroom, block jumps, leg lift station, tumble road, trampoline, pommel, rings and foam pit are used to improve flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength.
Recreational Gymnastics
This class is designed to teach those 5 ½+ gymnastic skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor. Skills (with assistance) will focus on pullovers, back hip circle, casts, and cast dismount. Emphasis will also be placed on flexibility and conditioning.
Tumbling is instruction solely on the floor apparatus. Beginning tumbling teaches skills such as cartwheels, round offs, walkovers, and handsprings. As the gymnast progresses, they learn more advanced tumbling skills such as back handsprings, front tucks, back tucks, and layouts. In order to achieve these skills, the gymnast must develop flexibility, coordination, muscle memory, and strength. Training modalities such as rope climb, leg lifts, back arch mats, hoola hoops, jump rope, jump blocks, resistance bands, tumble track, trampoline, and foam pit aid in development of these qualities.
