Southeastern Gymnastics is proud to announce that Lali Dekanoidze a member of their team, was selected by the Republic of Georgia to compete at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Gyor, Hungary. The event was held July 23-30, 2017.
Ms. Dekanoidze, 14 years old, is a native of the Republic of Georgia. She is the daughter of Sofia Managadze, a member of the Coaching Staff at Southeastern. She is most deserving of this prestigious honor, having qualified for the Nastia Liukin Cup for the past two years, finishing in the top 3 each year.
Rusudan Sikharulidze, who was World Champion in 1974, now serves as Head Coach of the National team for the Republic of Georgia. She has witnessed Lali’s progress and accomplishments at numerous events. A video presentation was created and shown to the Georgian Gymnastics Committee. Upon viewing, the President of the Committee extended the invitation to compete for the team.
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is the leading multisport event for young European athletes between 14 and 18 years of age. Fifty European Countries will be represented. The Festival promotes sport and physical activity, inspiring young people to take up sport. Following the Olympic principles, it fosters the spirit of friendship, fair play, and tolerance.
